Thornbury Eclectic

This extensive extension to an existing Thornbury home was designed around the owner’s contemporary art collection and a new internal courtyard with a plunge pool. This internal courtyard is located centrally with the main living spaces, dining room, kitchen, and sunken living room surrounding. Large steel-framed glazed windows overlook this central courtyard from all sides. The existing front of the house contains two bedrooms with a third bedroom converted to a large en suite and WIR. The old dining room has been converted into a luxurious lounge area. To the rear of the new extension, a third bedroom / design studio has been added overlooking the rear yard. The new extension is a series of flat-roofed box forms in glass,  painted flat cladding, and metal grate panels. A large alfresco area leads off the living area and kitchen. All this is surrounded by lush tropical planting and ponds. The final result is an ideal entertaining house for the owners.
